NOAA to Review Entanglement Risk, Humpback Whale Status

PCFFA has been working to advocate for a status review of the Central America humpback whale distinct population segment. As always, it is a priority for PCFFA to fight for all management actions that impact commercial fishing access to be based on best available science, not worst-case assumptions.

We thank Eugenio Piñeiro Soler and NOAA Fisheries for hearing our concerns and for today's announcement.

This is a great first step, and PCFFA will stay engaged to make sure this directive moves forward and delivers real results for the working fleet. We will keep our members and partners updated as this process unfolds.
