Hope on the Horizon at Coleman National Hatchery
PCFFA President George Bradshaw, John Atkinson from PCFFA member, Golden Gate Fishermen’s Association (GGFA), and James Stone from the Northern California Guides and Sportsmen’s Association visited Coleman National Fish Hatchery on Monday to thank the leadership and staff for their extraordinary work this year.
Coleman is on track to produce nearly 30 million salmon eggs, a level not reached in more than 25 years. PCFFA is proud to have been an influential part of the innovative and collaborative work that got us to this point, and we are so grateful to the agencies, scientists, and industry members that supported this work, and the Coleman staff for making things happen.
For those who make their living on salmon, the visit was more than just a tour. It was a celebration of what’s possible when people pull in the same direction. These fish won't reach the ocean until this spring or be harvestable for a few years, but what we saw at Coleman looks a lot like hope. we are so optimistic for 2028 when these fish will be part of our ocean harvest.
